Slice of Life is a regular update on the latest in my life. This is where I write about my books, movies, tv, food, fashion, family or whatever subjects are on my mind that week. It’s just a little glimpse of my slice.
- This song has turned into our anthem for Summer of ’19. The entire soundtrack from that movie is so good.
- I recently posted my favorite books of the year (so far). Looking forward to checking out everyone’s else’s lists. Here, here and here are several really good ones!
- We are in the middle of a bit of a busy time with summer day camp, a couple family road trips, visiting family and a few other fun activities. During this time, I am focusing more on family and friends and also unplugging a bit. If you miss me or want to see what I am cooking and reading on vacation, come see me on Instagram.
On the Blog this Week:
Summer Vacation: Time to Unplug a Bit – I am a planner….I may or may not be absent, but just in case I am not able to keep up, this is why.
Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Summer TBR – The real list is waaaay longer but here are 15 books (I could not do just 10) that I plan on reading this summer.
No recent books finished to report.
Did Not Finish:
No DNFs to report this week!
Likely Up Next:
I found a hardback copy of the second book in Ann Cleeves’s Shetland series, Wild Fire, on a recent trip to the library so hope to get to it next.
Still working my way through The Which Way Tree (amazing story about a young boy and his sister in Texas around the time of the Civil War). I got it through the Library (Libby app) and just had to renew it because I don’t seem to be having as much time to listen to books with my current summer schedule. It is lucky there is not a long list of people waiting for it. (Weird because it really is so good!) Hoping some upcoming road trips will give me more time to listen. I foresee that I will be writing more about this one soon.
Recent TBR Additions:
A Killing in the Hills is the first in an Appalachian mystery series by Julia Keller that I recently heard about on Instagram. After reading and loving Daisy Jones and the Six, I am wanting to start reading some of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s backlist titles. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is the next one on my list.
