This week I have spent way too much time on Instagram and have not been doing my normal reading. I have not mastered the art of reading all the books while also being omnipresent on social media.
Earlier in the week, I was in a full-on reading slump as I finished the Hate U Give Monday morning and could not get in to any new book I picked up.
Have you ever heard of a book hangover? I promise, it’s a thing. It’s when the last book you read was so good that no other book compares. Well, in my case, I read three great books (Room on Rue Amelie, The Lost Man and The Hate U Give) all in a row. I really liked them all but truly loved The Lost Man. I am gushing about it everywhere I go.
Anyway, given I read three in a row that were really good, I guess that means the hangover time has been compounded because it took me almost a full week to stop watching Parks and Rec for the millionth time and start getting interested in reading again.
There has been a book fair going on at my kids school and it has made for some really early mornings around here so we can get up to school an hour early and enjoy all. The. Books. We spent an embarrassing amount of money, but I am almost powerless to resist when my boys want a new book.
Given the reading slump, I was able to catch up on some of the latest episodes from my favorite book podcast, What Should I Read Next and listened to a new podcast that I am loving, He Read, She Read.
Chelsey from He Read, She Read mentioned an audible-like system where you can get audio books from your local indie bookstore. I am going to be checking this out!
Also, I finally gave in while listening to The Big Boo Cast podcast (Melanie Shankle and Sophie Hudson) and bought the Spring Fab Fit Fun box. Here’s hoping it is everything Melanie and Sophie say it is.
