Slice of Life is a regular update on the latest in my life. This is where I write about my books, movies, tv, food, fashion, family or whatever subjects are on my mind that week. It’s just a little glimpse of my slice. (“But what about the great deals on books?!” Just keep on scrollin’.)

This post contains affiliate links. If you click on one and make a purchase, I make a small commission (at no cost to you!).

  • Have you ever had Amish Friendship Bread? I am making my first batch of starter for it (it takes 10 days) and luckily, we were able to find some yeast (even though it is in short supply). Flour, on the other hand is much harder to come by in our area, but we are in the process of tracking some down!
  • If you are wanting to patronize small businesses during this difficult time, please check out this website. It is one of my favorites for finding reasonably-priced one of a kind boutique store items (plus, they have had washable face masks).
  • I am super excited about these really awesome virtual book events that are being cooked up by the cool peeps in the book world during this crazy time.
  • My kids have been spending a lot of time reading and listening to books through the Epic app (which is free through June 30th), but here are a bunch of additional free children’s ebooks through Amazon.
  • If you read this blog regularly, you know that I am having trouble focusing on books right now. Thankfully, audiobooks are saving me. I read Amy Poehler’s memoir several years ago in print and am re-reading it now by way of audio. I think Tina Fey’s Bossypants (also a re-read) will be next.

Weekend Reading: Yes, Please by Amy Poehler

Amazing Book Deals

Whether I have read (and loved) it, heard about it from fellow bookish friends or actually have it on my own “to be read” list, each book below made this list because it’s on my radar (AND because it’s on sale). Note: Book bargains are subject to change so act fast!

NOTE: My weekly book deals list will soon be moved out of “Slice of Life” and onto to its own page on my site. The new book deals page will be updated (and emailed to my mailing list) on a weekly basis.
