Slice of Life is a regular update on the latest in my life. This is where I write about my books, movies, tv, food, fashion, family or whatever subjects are on my mind this week. It’s just a little glimpse of my slice. (“But what about the great deals on books?!” Just keep on scrollin’.)

- I am participating in the #BlackoutBestseller list challenge this week by purchasing two books by Black authors (between June 14th and 20th). This is one way we can show publishers that we, as readers, desire more books by Black authors be available to us. I am excited to buy and read My Sister, the Serial Killer and the Children of Blood and Bone.
- Some amazing Bookstagrammers to follow on this list.
- On the foodie front, I am loving following these new-to-me food bloggers: Sense and Edibility, Low Carb Africa, and Kitchen Butterfly.
- I am not sure how I feel about this.
- Cool kids summer reading program from Barnes and Noble and Half Price Books.
- Seems like every summer I have to remind myself about the actual meaning of “SPF.“
- Happy Juneteenth! Starting the day off by watching this with my kids today.
- Not much in the way of plans this weekend so I am excited to relax, drink some wine and get some reading done (currently reading Notes from a Young Black Chef and listening to When Life Gives You Pears in addition to the one below). Happy Father’s Day weekend!

Amazing Book Deals
Whether I have read (and loved) it, heard about it from fellow bookish friends or actually have it on my own “to be read” list, each book below made this list because it’s on my radar (AND because it’s on sale). Note: Book bargains are subject to change so act fast!
NOTE: My weekly book deals list will soon be moved out of “Slice of Life” and onto to its own page on my site. The new book deals page will be updated (and emailed to my mailing list) on a weekly basis.
