This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt (hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl) is to list all of the new release books I am eagerly awaiting in the second half of this year. As you can see from the titles below, I love dark and creepy thrillers, but I truthfully am a pretty eclectic reader and like a little bit of everything. I guess there are just a lot of good-looking thrillers coming out later this year?

The Swallows (Aug, 2019): I have an e-ARC of this one, and I am chomping at the bit to get to it. I adore Lisa Lutz’s Spellman Files series and also especially loved her book, The Passenger.

The Long Call (Sept 2019): I recently discovered Ann Cleeves books and have been reading her Shetland series. This is the first book in a new series.

The Institute (Sept 2019): A new one from the master of horror, Stephen King. It is kind of compulsory for my list although I don’t always love his books.

Never Have I Ever (July 2019): Oddly, I have not read any of Jackson’s other books, but this one just sounds so good and right up my reading street.

Things You Save in a Fire (Aug 2019): Every once in a while, I need a break from scary, dark and creepy. Historical fiction also fills this void for me, but I don’t have any new ones of those on my radar, yet.

Imaginary Friend (Oct 2019): I recently was denied an ARC request for this one. Now, I am on a mission to get a copy. Anyone know how I can get my hands on one?!

Ninth House (Oct 2019): Old school secret societies, the occult, and I recently heard that Joe Hill blurbed it and said it “rocked his world.”

What books are you anxiously awaiting to be released? Feel free to list your TTT below!

  1. Sounds like we enjoy the same kinds of books! I’m adding your blog to my Bloglovin’ blogroll so I can keep up with what you’re reading/reviewing.

I’m excited about the Lutz book as well as anything by Cleeves. I just heard about THINGS YOU SAVE IN A FIRE today and now I have to read it as well. As for Joshilyn Jackson, I love her novels. She usually writes Southern women’s fiction/family saga-type books, which I adore. They’re poignant and heartfelt but also spunky and fun. NEVER HAVE I EVER is a departure for Jackson and I just didn’t like it nearly as well as I like her other books. This one felt generic, like it lacked the unique spark that makes Jackson’s other books so delightful.

    Happy TTT!

  2. I am seeing Ninth House everywhere. I still need to read Bardugo. And Ann Cleeves is someone I’ve been thinking of trying- I like the Shetland show.

  3. Okay so I might have already commented this last night but it doesn’t show and my internet is spotty so it’s even more likely that I did and it just didn’t go through, but! So many good titles! I’m loving how many books we’re getting this year. Ninth House is definitely one of my most anticipated releases. Ah!
